LASTMA Warns Motorists to Maintain Speed Limit on Newly Renovated Third Mainland Bridge

 

 

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has issued a stern warning to motorists, emphasizing the importance of adhering to speed limits on the recently refurbished Third Mainland Bridge.

Mr. Olalekan Bakare Oki, the General Manager of LASTMA, delivered this cautionary message while addressing officers responsible for overseeing operations on the bridge.

Mr. Oki highlighted the extensive repairs carried out on the bridge, noting its enhanced functionality and aesthetic appeal.

While acknowledging the allure of driving on the newly renovated bridge, he cautioned against reckless speeding, which could lead to dangerous consequences for motorists.

“The government has invested in state-of-the-art facilities to facilitate smooth navigation across the bridge, ensuring efficient travel for motorists,” stated Mr. Oki.

He stressed the importance of obeying traffic signs and utilizing electronic devices installed along the bridge to enhance safety and efficiency.

Furthermore, motorists were urged to plan their journeys meticulously, considering the approved speed limits and avoiding unnecessary speeding.

Mr. Oki assured the public of LASTMA’s commitment to ensuring the safety of motorists by deploying additional personnel, patrol vehicles, and recovery units along the bridge.

While announcing the impending reopening of the Third Mainland Bridge on April 4, 2024, by the Federal Government, Mr. Oki cautioned vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are in optimal condition to prevent any hindrances to traffic flow.

LASTMA emphasized its readiness to address any avoidable obstacles that may impede vehicular movement on the bridge.

As the Third Mainland Bridge prepares to resume operation, LASTMA’s warning serves as a reminder to motorists to prioritize safety and adhere to traffic regulations.
