Laide Bakare Raises Alarm Over Children’s Safety, Alleges Maltreatment in Ex-Husband’s Custody

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has appealed for help over the safety of her two sons, who she said are currently living with her former husband, Mutairu Atanda Orilowo.
The actress raised the alarm in a video shared on her Instagram page, where she alleged that her children were being maltreated while in their father’s custody.
Bakare said she had previously avoided taking her family issues to the public but decided to speak out because of what she described as growing concerns about her children’s safety.
She said her priority was to have her sons safe and back in her care.
According to the actress, Orilowo had prevented the children from staying with her, leaving her distressed about their welfare.
“My baby father has refused the children to be with me. This is a sad reality for me because my boys are not with me,” she said.
Bakare alleges threat against sons
Bakare alleged that she recently overheard a disturbing conversation while speaking with her children on the phone.
She claimed an argument broke out at Orilowo’s residence involving his wife, some of his children and her own sons.
According to the actress, she heard Orilowo’s wife instructing one of the boys in the house to strangle her children rather than beat them in a way that could leave visible injuries.
Bakare said she was particularly concerned because she believed the alleged instruction was intended to prevent their father from noticing any marks on the children.
She also claimed to have recorded the voice of Orilowo’s wife during the alleged incident.
The actress accused her former husband of keeping the children away from her as a way of retaliating against her, and appealed to members of the public to support her efforts to regain custody of her sons.
She said her decision to speak publicly was driven by the need to protect her children, despite the usual advice against taking private family disputes to social media.
Bakare and Orilowo married in 2013 and have two sons together. The actress had previously been married to Olumide Kunfulire, with whom she separated in 2012.
