The Lagos State Government has escalated its sanitation drive by issuing “Notices of Intention to Seal” to several markets and plazas in Ikorodu over persistent environmental violations.
In a statement released on Sunday, the government said the enforcement action would be carried out by the Waste Investigation, Surveillance, and Enforcement (WISE) unit of the Lagos State Waste Management Authority, following routine compliance inspections across key locations in the Ikorodu area.
The affected sites include Ferry Terminal, Ikorodu; No. 6 NBC Road, Ebute, Ikorodu; No. 7 NBC Road, Ebute, Ikorodu; Ominu Ajasa & Royal Family Premises, Ikorodu; Ladega Market, Ikorodu; and Better Life Market, Ikorodu.
The State has given all markets, plazas, and occupants a 72-hour window to address the infractions and comply with environmental standards. Failure to adhere to the notice will result in appropriate enforcement measures, including possible closure, in accordance with existing regulations.
The warning underscores Lagos State’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness, public health, and orderly commercial operations across its markets and commercial hubs.
