Lagos Court Grants Bail to Influencer Scott Iguma After Arrest Over PWAN Fraud Allegations
Media personality regains freedom days after calling out real estate firm; controversy continues over defamation claims.

The Lagos State High Court has granted bail to popular media personality and influencer Scott Iguma, days after he was remanded in prison over allegations of defamation.
Iguma’s legal troubles began last week when he publicly accused PWAN Group, a well-known real estate company, of defrauding customers by issuing receipts in place of actual land allocations. He also submitted over 130 petitions from alleged victims to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The controversy escalated on Thursday when Scott was arrested on charges of defamation by PWAN’s founder, Augustine Onwumere, and subsequently remanded in prison on Friday.
His arrest sparked outrage on social media, drawing swift reactions from influencers and public figures including Tunde Ednut, VeryDarkMan, Stanley Ontop, and singer Kokopee, all of whom criticized both the police and PWAN for what they described as an attempt to silence a whistleblower.
In a video shared online, Kokopee confirmed that Iguma had been granted bail after Monday’s court hearing.
“After the hearing, the judge has granted Scott Iguma bail. His legal team is currently working round the clock to meet the bail conditions,” he said. “One thing I must tell Nigerians is that we cannot be silent when it looks like oppression is around the corner. Injustice for one is injustice to all.”
Kokopee further challenged PWAN to present evidence of their innocence, saying: “If you say you are innocent, come forward with proof.”
As of press time, Scott Iguma’s team had yet to release an official statement, but supporters continue to demand accountability from both PWAN and the authorities.
The case has drawn attention to the growing role of influencers in consumer advocacy, particularly in the real estate sector, where allegations of fraud are increasingly common.
