Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has filed a lawsuit against Moshood Mustapha and his brother, Bolakale Mustapha, over allegations of disturbing public peace and releasing a video online that could incite unrest against his administration.
The brothers were arraigned on Monday before Justice Muhammed Abdulgafar at the Kwara State High Court, where they were charged with five counts, including making a false declaration and circulating content deemed capable of stirring public resentment.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all charges.
The video in question, according to the governor’s legal team, contains statements that could provoke public hostility towards the government. The court proceedings revealed that the second defendant, Bolakale, was formerly affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC), but reportedly fell out with the governor.
After hearing arguments, Justice Abdulgafar granted the defendants bail in the sum of ₦5 million each. The trial is scheduled to commence on July 18, 2025.
The case has drawn attention amid rising political tensions in the state, as it pits the sitting governor against former allies now accused of attempting to undermine the administration through digital platforms.
