Kidnapped Director Of Rivers Internal Revenue Service Released

A Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Aribibia Fubara has been released from captivity after being kidnapped last month.  Fubara was abducted on Saturday, August 24th, near the Okrika waterfront close to the Marine Base area in Port Harcourt.

The director regained his freedom shortly after midnight on Thursday, September 5th, on a small island near Bonny. However, he was not reunited with his family until Friday, September 6th, 2024.

A family source confirmed that a ransom of ₦15 million was paid to secure Fubara’s release. The victim was held for a total of 12 days before his liberation.

In response to the incident, the Rivers State Police Command has scheduled a briefing for the Commissioner of Police, during which details about Fubara’s release and other related issues are expected to be discussed.
