Super Eagles legends Kanu Nwankwo and Victor Ikpeba have expressed their support for the ongoing transformation in the Nigerian National League (NNL), commending both the quality of play and the leadership in the second-tier competition.
Kanu, after witnessing one of the NNL Matchday 15 fixtures, shared his optimism for Nigerian football: “There is great hope for Nigerian football from what I am seeing in the NNL. I have seen some of the games of the ongoing season, and what I have seen is encouraging. These players are hungry, talented, and just need the right platforms.”
Ikpeba, the 1997 CAF African Footballer of the Year, also weighed in, praising the league’s competitiveness: “The standard of play is good, and the league is very competitive. I look forward to attending the NNL Super Eight.”
As reported by Daily Post, Wikki Tourists, Barau FC, Yobe Desert Stars, and Doma United have all secured their places in the Super Eight playoff tournament from the Northern Conference, with the remaining four teams set to emerge from the Southern Conference.
