Kane set to match England appearance record against Czech Republic

Harry Kane is poised to make his 125th England appearance against the Czech Republic on Tuesday, bringing him level with Peter Shilton’s record while continuing his impressive partnership with Jude Bellingham.

The England captain will reach the landmark if selected for the Nations League encounter at Wembley, extending a remarkable international career that began with his debut against Lithuania in 2015.

Kane marked that first appearance with a goal just two minutes after coming on and has since established himself as England’s all-time leading scorer, with 89 goals following his two-goal display in Saturday’s 7-0 win over Croatia.

The Bayern Munich forward has remained a key figure for England through several managerial changes, having played under Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce, Gareth Southgate, Lee Carsley and current boss Thomas Tuchel.

Despite Kane’s consistency, England have continued to wait for their first major trophy since the 1966 World Cup, suffering defeats in the European Championship finals of 2021 and 2024.

Tuchel believes Kane’s hopes of emulating Bobby Moore as a World Cup-winning England captain could depend partly on his growing partnership with Bellingham, whose outstanding display against Croatia earned widespread acclaim.

Bellingham, who was left out of the England squad in October 2025 and faced uncertainty over his World Cup prospects, has since enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under Tuchel.
