Joke Silva Remembers Olu Jacobs With Throwback Photo Ahead of Tribute Night

Veteran actress Joke Silva has remembered her late husband, Olu Jacobs, with a throwback photograph as the Nigerian entertainment industry prepares to honour the actor in Lagos.

Silva shared the photograph of herself and Jacobs on Instagram on Wednesday, accompanying the post with a white heart and praying hands emojis.

The tribute came 14 days after Jacobs died at the age of 84.

Jacobs, whose full name was Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, died on September 16, 2026. His family announced his death in a statement that referred to him as “The Lion of Lufodo” and asked for privacy as they mourned.

Silva and Jacobs were married for several decades and became one of Nigeria’s most recognised couples in the entertainment industry.

Their relationship also extended into their professional lives. Together, they co-founded the Lufodo Group, an organisation involved in theatre and film production.

Jacobs is being remembered at a Night of Tributes and Service of Songs at Glover Memorial Hall on Lagos Island on Wednesday.

The event, scheduled for 4pm, is expected to bring together colleagues, friends and members of the creative industry to celebrate the veteran actor’s life and career.

Jacobs built a career across theatre, television and film spanning more than five decades and became one of the most respected figures in Nigerian performing arts.

His death has continued to draw tributes from colleagues, fans and other members of the entertainment community.

His funeral service is scheduled for Friday, October 2, at 10am at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos.
