“I’ve Been Sober for Three Months” – Victony Opens Up About His Journey

Nigerian Afrobeats star Anthony Ebuka Victor, widely known as Victony, has opened up about the personal battles he has faced, revealing how they have deeply affected his life and career.
The singer, who survived a devastating car accident in 2021 that claimed one life and left three others injured, said the trauma of the incident robbed him of his youth. The accident left Victony confined to a wheelchair for nearly a year, forcing him to confront both physical and emotional pain.
Despite the setback, Victony rose to prominence with the release of his breakout hit Holy Father featuring Mayorkun, marking a turning point in his music career.
Reflecting on his journey, he wrote on X (formerly Twitter):
“My troubles stole my youth.”
In a separate post, Victony shared a major personal milestone, revealing that he has been sober for the past three months:
“3 months sober. Glory.”
The artist also disclosed that until recently, he had never performed on stage without consuming alcohol. However, he’s now working to change that as part of his ongoing Stubborn tour. According to Victony, he wants to connect with his fans on a deeper, more authentic level—and sobriety is part of that transformation.
His honesty has resonated with fans, offering a glimpse into the resilience behind his music and the personal growth shaping his artistry.
