Italy Approach Guardiola for National Team Role

Former Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has held talks with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) over a possible move to become the country’s next head coach.

According to Sky Italia, the FIGC is keen on bringing the Spaniard in, with new technical director Paolo Maldini and his adviser Leonardo travelling to Barcelona for discussions.

It is yet to be determined whether Guardiola is open to taking charge of the Azzurri or making an immediate return to coaching.

Roberto Mancini and Andrea Pirlo are also being considered for the position, which became vacant after Gennaro Gattuso stepped down following Italy’s failure to qualify for a third straight World Cup.
