Hansi Flick Confirms Fermin Lopez Set to Stay at Barcelona Amid Chelsea Interest

Chelsea have expressed strong interest in acquiring the Spanish midfielder, with manager Enzo Maresca reportedly holding discussions with Lopez as part of the club’s efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding Chelsea’s pursuit of Fermin Lopez during the current summer transfer window.

Chelsea have expressed strong interest in acquiring the Spanish midfielder, with manager Enzo Maresca reportedly holding discussions with Lopez as part of the club’s efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge. The West London side is believed to have submitted an initial offer in the region of £43 million for the 21-year-old.

However, Barcelona have placed a significantly higher valuation on the player, reportedly demanding £78 million to sanction any departure.

Commenting on the situation, Flick stated that he has personally spoken with Lopez and remains confident the player will not leave the club this summer.

“At the moment he is here. I spoke to Fermin and I’m convinced that he will stay,” Flick said as quoted by Fabrizio Romano ahead of Barcelona’s clash with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
“But in the end I don’t know what happens, I will be really happy when the transfer market will be closed.”
