Governor Uba Sani has reinstated the Kaduna State Ministry of Information, a portfolio previously scrapped by his predecessor, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai.
The governor announced the reinstatement as part of a broader cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and delivering on key developmental priorities.
As part of the shake-up, Professor Mohammed Sani-Bello, who previously served as Commissioner for Education, has been redeployed to lead the reinstated Ministry of Information.
Replacing him as Commissioner for Education is Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo, a seasoned technocrat and former Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria as well as a former Special Adviser to the President on Energy.
In addition, Gloria Ibrahim has been appointed as Commissioner for Youth Development, a key position in Governor Sani’s youth-focused administration.
The appointments and redeployments take immediate effect, according to a statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ibraheem Musa.
Governor Sani congratulated the new appointees and charged them with delivering on his administration’s core objectives.
He expressed confidence in Professor Sambo’s ability to revitalise the Ministry of Education, tasking him with expanding access to quality education, upgrading school infrastructure, enhancing teacher capacity, embracing ICT, prioritising girl-child education, and reinforcing school security across the state.
The Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, is expected to develop and implement innovative, youth-driven programmes that will position the ministry as a center for impactful solutions to youth-related challenges.
“These appointments reflect our commitment to good governance, sectoral transformation, and the empowerment of our people, especially the youth,” the governor stated.
Governor Sani’s decision signals a shift toward more inclusive governance and renewed investment in critical ministries, with the aim of accelerating social and economic development in Kaduna State.
