GM Recalls Over 62,000 Chevrolet Silverado Trucks in U.S. Over Fire Risk

General Motors (GM) is recalling more than 62,000 vehicles across the United States due to a potential fire hazard linked to a faulty brake pressure switch.

According to a notice from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects approximately 62,468 Chevrolet Silverado trucks from model years 2019 to 2024.

The safety agency warned that an electrical short in the brake pressure switch could spark a fire whether the vehicle is parked or in motion.

“An electrical short in the brake pressure switch can result in a fire, increasing the risk of injury or property damage,” the NHTSA said in its report released Thursday.

Owners of the affected vehicles are being advised to park outside and away from buildings or structures until the defect is repaired.

GM has not reported any injuries or crashes related to the issue so far. The company is expected to notify affected customers and begin free repairs at authorized dealerships.

This latest recall adds to a growing list of fire-related concerns in the auto industry, as manufacturers tighten safety protocols amid increased regulatory scrutiny.
