Fire guts 7-storey building in Lagos

A seven-story structure on Sanni Adewale Street in Lagos Island Local Government Area, Lagos State, that housed multiple shops was completely destroyed by fire early on Friday morning.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service Director, Margaret Adeseye, revealed this in a statement on X on Friday.

According to Adeseye, at 05:17 a.m. the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service got a distress call. Firefighters from the Ebute Elefun, Sari, and Lekki 1 stations swiftly responded, arriving at the scene by 05:33 a.m.

Adeseye confirmed that the situation is under control, and no casualties have been reported.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was triggered by an electrical surge.
