Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has confirmed that she will now represent Turkey at international level.
Ofili, 22, made the announcement in a statement shared on her social media platforms on Monday.
“Wrapping up my 2025 season has been a whirlwind of new experiences and big decisions. As some of you have heard, I’m also starting a new chapter representing Turkey,” she wrote.
The decision comes after years of alleged administrative lapses and neglect by the Nigerian Olympic Committee and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Ofili, one of Africa’s fastest rising track stars, is expected to be eligible to compete for Turkey from 2027.
