Eguavoen confident Super Falcons can overcome Comoros despite withdrawals

Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen remains confident that the absence of several key players will not affect the team’s chances against Comoros.

The record African champions are set to face Comoros in a two-legged 2028 Olympic Games qualifying tie at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne.

Asisat Oshoala, Oluwatosin Demehin, Flourish Sabastine and Ashleigh Plumptre have all withdrawn from the squad for the encounter.

Eguavoen, however, believes the replacements have enough quality and experience to help Nigeria progress despite the withdrawals.

“It is true that we have a number of withdrawals, notably Asisat Oshoala, Ashley Plumptre and Oluwatosin Demehin,” Eguavoen said.

“However, I have confidence in their replacements as these ones also have the quality and experience to contribute meaningfully to the team’s success against Comoros.”
