Edo State Sports Commission Chairman Assures Athletes of Governor Okpebholo’s Support Ahead of National Sports Festival

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Amadin Enabulele, has assured the state’s athletes of continued support from Governor Monday Okpebholo. Enabulele provided the assurance during a visit to various training venues at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin, where athletes are currently camped in preparation for the 22nd National Sports Festival (NSF) scheduled to take place in Ogun State from May 16 to 30.

Enabulele praised Governor Okpebholo for his transformative contributions to sports development in Nigeria, calling him a “true game changer.” He emphasized that the governor has tasked the commission with identifying and nurturing raw sports talents from across Edo’s local government areas.

“The essence of this visit is to assess the performance of Team Edo athletes, boost their morale, and encourage them to stay focused and committed to training,” Enabulele said. “Our camping program is designed to prepare our athletes thoroughly for the festival, which is set to be held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.”

He continued, expressing gratitude for the governor’s unwavering support: “The commission is immensely grateful to our exceptional governor for redefining sports development in Nigeria. I call him the real game changer for his unwavering support. The Governor has mandated us to identify and nurture raw talents from across our communities and local governments, and we have already commenced this critical task. On behalf of the commission, we deeply appreciate the continuous support of our sports-loving Governor.”

Enabulele also expressed confidence in the athletes and coaches, stating that they possess the determination and talent to secure victory for Edo at the National Sports Festival.
