Don Jazzy Reveals How Teenage Rejections Shaped His Confidence and Healing Journey

Ace Nigerian music producer and record executive Don Jazzy, whose real name is Michael Collins Ajereh, has shared a personal account of how repeated rejection during his secondary school years affected his confidence and emotional wellbeing.
Speaking on an episode of the Keeping It Real With Jima podcast, the Mavin Records boss revealed that he struggled with self-esteem as a teenager, saying he was often turned down by female classmates whenever he expressed romantic interest.
According to him, the experiences left a lasting psychological impact that followed him into adulthood.
Don Jazzy explained that after achieving success in the music industry, he attempted to reconnect with some of the girls who had rejected him in the past, in what he described as a personal effort to process and overcome those early emotional experiences.
However, he noted that by the time he went looking for them, most were already married.
Reflecting on the experience, he said that seeing how far he had come in life helped him come to terms with his past and gradually heal from the emotional effects of those rejections.
The music executive added that success gave him a new perspective on his self-worth and helped him move beyond the insecurities formed during his teenage years.
