DJ Cuppy: I no longer care what people think of me
Disc jockey and billionaire heiress Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has reflected on her personal transformation, saying her relationship with God has changed the way she views fame, relevance and public approval.
Cuppy shared the reflection in a TikTok video, where she looked back on the early stages of her career and acknowledged how strongly she once desired validation and recognition.
The DJ said she used to worry about remaining relevant and being perceived as important, while also craving the attention that came with public recognition.
“I was thinking about how I have grown as a person, and I really look at how desperate I was for validation at the start of my career. I wanted to be relevant. I was scared of not being important. I craved clout,” she said.
According to Cuppy, her priorities have since changed significantly. She said her faith has brought her to a place of peace where her sense of worth is no longer dependent on how people perceive her.
“And now I’m just in a place of peace,” she added.
The DJ linked her new outlook to her Christian faith, referencing Galatians 1:10 as a verse that reflects how she now approaches life.
“It reminds me of a verse in the Bible, Galatians 1:10, which says, ‘Really and truly, am I trying to please people, or am I actually trying to please God?’” she said.
Cuppy said her desire to please God now takes precedence over seeking approval from others.
“Because if I were people-pleasing, I wouldn’t be a servant of Christ, and that is how I live my life. Yeah, it’s working out for me. I no longer care what people think,” she added.
Her latest comments continue a period in which Cuppy has been increasingly open about her faith and personal growth, including taking time away from social media for a spiritual retreat.
