Defence Headquarters highlights operational successes across Nigeria

Security operations across Nigeria between May 15 and May 21 led to the neutralisation of terrorists, arrest of suspects, and rescue of kidnapped victims, the Defence Headquarters has said.

The military also dismantled criminal camps, disrupted logistics networks, and recovered weapons and other illicit materials during coordinated operations nationwide. Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, said the gains were recorded across multiple theatres of operation.

In the North-East, troops intensified operations in Borno State, killing terrorists, arresting collaborators, and recording several surrenders, including women and children. Operations in the North-West targeted bandit networks, resulting in the arrest of an arms supplier, recovery of weapons, destruction of camps, and rescue of a kidnapped school pupil in Katsina State.

North-Central operations led to arrests of gang members and informants, recovery of suspected ransom funds, and rescues in Plateau, Kogi, and Taraba States. In the South-South, troops arrested kidnappers, shut down illegal oil refining sites, and recovered stolen crude oil, while in the South-East, illegal miners were arrested and an attack was repelled without casualties.

The Defence Headquarters commended troops for their efforts and reaffirmed commitment to sustaining nationwide security operations, while urging citizens to provide credible intelligence to support ongoing efforts.
