Daniel Etim Effiong Says Betrayed Spouses Should Offer Help Before Anger

Nollywood actor and producer Daniel Etim Effiong has shared his perspective on how couples should respond to infidelity, saying the first reaction should focus on helping the offending partner rather than reacting with anger.

Speaking during an interview with media personality Ife Agoro, the actor described cheating as a sign that the partner involved may be struggling with a deeper personal issue.

According to him, the immediate response in such situations should come from a place of concern and support, with the aim of helping the partner confront and overcome the underlying problem before addressing the broader impact on the relationship.

Etim Effiong argued that a cheating partner is already in a troubled situation and may require emotional support before both individuals can begin the process of healing together.

He added that focusing solely on personal hurt without understanding the circumstances behind the behaviour may not lead to meaningful resolution within the relationship.

During the conversation, Agoro challenged his opinion, questioning why the emotional needs of the person who committed the betrayal should take priority over the pain experienced by the betrayed spouse.

In response, the actor maintained that genuine love should not be driven purely by self-interest, insisting that couples facing such situations should work together toward healing after first confronting the root of the issue.

His comments have since sparked conversations online, with differing reactions from social media users debating accountability, forgiveness, and emotional responsibility in relationships.
