Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has advised single women to be more intentional about choosing life partners, warning them against accepting a man simply because he has shown interest in them.
Adegbite shared the advice during a recent episode of her podcast, published on her YouTube channel.
The actress said some women may be tempted to accept proposals from men who are ready for marriage without first considering whether the relationship offers the compatibility and partnership they need.
She urged women to assess whether a prospective partner is genuinely suited to them rather than allowing the fact that they were chosen to determine their decision.
According to Adegbite, age should also not be the primary consideration when choosing a partner.
She said the more important questions are whether both people can love, support and build a life together.
“Ladies, don’t choose someone because they chose you. Choose someone because they are right for you,” she said.
Adegbite added that a partner being younger, older or the same age should not automatically determine whether a relationship is worth pursuing.
Adegbite speaks on older women dating younger men
The actress also addressed women who may find themselves receiving proposals from younger men.
She cautioned older women against accepting such relationships merely because the attention makes them feel desirable.
Instead, she advised them to consider the younger man’s character, emotional maturity and willingness to build a meaningful relationship.
Adegbite said a younger partner should be someone who respects the woman, supports her and understands the responsibilities that come with her life, including her children if she has any.
She stressed that emotional maturity and clarity of intentions should be considered before making a commitment.
For Adegbite, the central issue in choosing a partner is not age but whether both people can create a relationship built on respect, safety, support and a shared desire to grow together.
