As Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, the entire All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly caucus from Cross River State has thrown its full support behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu for a second term.
The endorsement, issued collectively by APC lawmakers representing all three senatorial districts and 18 local government areas of the state, signals strong party unity ahead of the polls.
Speaking to journalists in Calabar, Caucus Chairman and Senator for Cross River Central, Eteng Williams, described the backing as a deliberate and unanimous decision, urging citizens to rally behind the two leaders to ensure continuity of ongoing development projects.
“Our president has demonstrated effective leadership, notably with infrastructural projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway — a vital artery that will benefit all of us. For this reason, we unequivocally endorse President Tinubu for a second term,” Williams said.
He also praised Tinubu’s introduction of the student loan scheme, his focus on infrastructure across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, and progress in sectors such as oil and gas, commending the president’s courageous leadership style.
Highlighting Governor Otu’s achievements, Williams pointed to tangible progress including the rehabilitation of the Cross River State Library and enhanced security following the launch of Operation Okwok.
“What we have witnessed under Governor Otu’s leadership justifies our wholehearted endorsement. His administration has delivered, and we urge the people of Cross River to support his bid for re-election,” he added.
Other caucus members, including Mike Etaba (Obubra/Etung Federal Constituency) and Bassey Akiba (Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency), echoed the call, emphasizing that the unified endorsement would allow both Tinubu and Otu to govern without political distractions, ensuring steady progress for the state and country.
This united front from Cross River APC lawmakers reflects a strategic move to consolidate support and maintain momentum for key development initiatives as the 2027 elections approach.
