Court Remands 34 for Illegal Street Trading in Lagos

A Magistrate Court in Bolade Oshodi has ordered the remand of 34 individuals 32 men and 2 women, until July 22, 2025, for engaging in illegal street trading along the Alaba Rago median on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

The suspects were arrested over the weekend during a joint operation by the Kick Against Indiscipline (KAI) and the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).

Authorities aimed to dismantle illegal structures and curb unlawful trading on the road median, which had become overrun by vendors and suspected miscreants who reportedly used the area for shelter and possible criminal activity.

Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, emphasized the state government’s commitment to upholding environmental and public order laws.

He called on residents to maintain decency and support efforts to build a cleaner and more sustainable Lagos.
