Court orders investigation into Fadahunsi over alleged violent comments

The police have been given two weeks to investigate a criminal complaint filed against Senator Francis Fadahunsi over alleged comments linked to violence ahead of the Osun State governorship election.

The directive was issued by a Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, which ordered the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, to investigate the allegations and submit its findings.

The complaint was filed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, following a viral video containing comments attributed to Fadahunsi.

Olajengbesi alleged that the senator’s remarks encouraged violence against members and supporters of the Accord Party ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The court’s order was contained in a letter dated August 13 and signed by the Registrar, Abdulraham Yusuf.

The case comes amid a separate legal dispute between Olajengbesi and Fadahunsi over statements allegedly made by the senator during television interviews.

Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, has demanded a retraction and public apology over allegations that his client sponsors thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.

The lawyer described the claims as false, defamatory and damaging to Olajengbesi’s reputation.

He gave Fadahunsi 24 hours to retract the statements and apologise, warning that failure to comply would lead to a ₦10 billion lawsuit for defamation and injurious falsehood.
