Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick, has praised Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone ahead of their Copa del Rey clash at the Montjuic Stadium on Tuesday night.
In his press conference, Flick spoke highly of Atletico Madrid, describing them as a formidable opponent with the best defense in La Liga.
He said, “It’s a new game, we are starting again from scratch. They are a great team, they have invested a lot, they have the best defense and incredible players in attack. It will be a tough game.”
Flick also gave an update on Barcelona star Lamine Yamal, who suffered an injury during Barcelona’s 2-0 win over Las Palmas on Saturday. Yamal, 17, posted an image of his bloodied foot after being stepped on during the match.
Flick shared that the team would wait to evaluate the injury, expressing optimism about Yamal’s availability. “We have to wait and evaluate. I think he will be able to play, I have positive feelings,” he said.
After the Copa del Rey game against Atletico, Barcelona will face Real Sociedad in La Liga on March 2, followed by a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first-leg match against Benfica on March 5.
