Nicolas Jackson, a Chelsea striker, is said to be prepared to fight hard ahead of the Blues’ mouth-watering showdown with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
In his first meeting with Tottenham, the 22-year-old scored a stunning hat-trick in north London as the Blues defeated them 4-1.
According to Chelsea’s official website, Jackson grasped the significance of that victory and believes Chelsea will have to perform at their best this time at Stamford Bridge.
“It was an amazing night,” Jackson reminisced.
“I was still quite new and I didn’t know until I scored the hat-trick how important it was for the club. It was a big, big derby and I was very happy. Every time I sleep it’s in my head, the hat-trick. So good memories in their stadium.
“I hope we create the same memories in our stadium. We are going to fight because London derbies are not easy.
“Last week we lost one and we don’t want that to happen again. So we’re going to fight as a team, fight for the club, and it’s a derby that is very important for the club and the players.
“We are going to fight for it. We will try to do it as a team, one family, and try to make the supporters happy.”
Jackson made the move to the Premier League last summer from Villarreal in the top division of Spain. He has scored 13 goals for the Blues in all competitions.
Though, his first season has been characterized with squandering of chances, the Senegalese will hope to improve his goal-scoring abilities next season and beyond.
