Chelsea Confirm Veiga Exit, Eye Long-Term Deal for Xavi Simons

Chelsea have officially announced the departure of Renato Veiga, who has completed a permanent move to Spanish side Villarreal.

The club confirmed the transfer in a statement on their website on Friday, expressing appreciation for the 22-year-old’s contribution during his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Veiga featured in 18 matches for the Blues during the first half of last season, having joined the London club from FC Basel in July 2024.

In a separate development, Chelsea are making moves to secure RB Leipzig midfielder Xavi Simons on a long-term contract until 2031, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg.

Both parties have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on personal terms, with the finer details of the deal expected to be finalised next week.

Formal negotiations between Chelsea and Leipzig are scheduled to take place after Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga match against RB Leipzig on Friday evening.

The report also suggests that to accommodate Simons, Chelsea may need to offload players such as Christopher Nkunku and Nicolas Jackson to balance the squad and meet financial requirements.
