CHAN 2024: Nduka Vows to Make Nigeria Proud as Eagles Prepare for Senegal Clash

Home-based Super Eagles defender Junior Nduka has pledged to help deliver glory to Nigeria as the team prepares to face Senegal in their opening group-stage match at the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Remo Stars centre-back expressed confidence in head coach Éric Chelle’s squad, stating they are determined to make Nigerians proud, just as the national women’s teams — the D’Tigress and Super Falcons — have done in recent weeks.

The D’Tigress clinched the AfroBasket title after a victory over Mali in the final held at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Meanwhile, the Super Falcons were recently crowned champions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) following a 3-2 win against Morocco in the final.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference in Zanzibar on Monday, Nduka said:

“To our fellow Nigerians, I know the expectations are high because we’ve been doing well in sports, and we’ll try our best not to let them down.

Our female team, the Super Falcons, has just won the WAFCON, and our women’s basketball team, the D’Tigress, just claimed the AfroBasket title. It’s a strong record for the country, and we hope to build on that success.”
