The Nigeria Correctional Service, NCoS, in Borno State has alerted the public following the escape of an inmate from the Maximum Security Custodial Centre in Maiduguri.
The command said the escapee is identified as “JOHN ISEARL”, the name reportedly appearing on the inmate’s prison uniform.
In a statement, the NCoS Public Relations Officer in Borno, A.B. Thliza, urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide any credible information that could assist in locating the escaped inmate.
The command advised anyone with relevant information to immediately contact the nearest police station, NCoS facility or other security agency.
The NCoS also warned members of the public against attempting to apprehend the escapee themselves, stressing that all reports should be directed to the appropriate security authorities.
The command said public cooperation would be crucial to ensuring the safe recovery of the inmate and maintaining public safety.
