
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has approved the release of N872 million as counterpart funding to support the state’s primary healthcare sector.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and an award presentation ceremony held at the Government House Banquet Hall in Bauchi. The governor, represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to strengthening the healthcare system across the state.
Jatau revealed that, so far, N261,708,491 has already been disbursed to the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board. He noted that this funding reflects the unwavering commitment of the state government to expand access to quality healthcare, enhance health infrastructure, and support frontline health workers.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all our health workers, local government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers,” Jatau stated. “Your tireless efforts and passion are the driving force behind the steady progress we are making in primary healthcare delivery.”
He further assured that the government will continue to prioritize the healthcare sector and provide necessary funding to achieve Universal Health Coverage across the state.
Jatau also extended appreciation to development partners for their technical assistance, financial contributions, and ongoing collaboration, all of which have significantly bolstered the state’s healthcare system. He called for renewed commitment to the collective goal of building a healthier Bauchi State.
Speaking at the event, the co-chair of the State Task Force Committee on Primary Healthcare and Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu, commended the progress made in implementing healthcare programs.
He praised the synergy between stakeholders and emphasized the importance of sustaining the momentum for long-term impact.
