Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu Government Has Failed to Improve Nigerians’ Lives

Former political adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has launched a sharp critique of the administration, saying it has failed to improve both governance and the quality of life for Nigerians.

Speaking on Channels TV’s Political Paradigm, Baba-Ahmed said the removal of fuel subsidies has brought hardship to the average Nigerian, with little evidence that the savings are being used effectively—especially at the state level.

He urged the president to fight corruption, end waste, and ensure state allocations are used for public benefit.

The former Northern Elders Forum spokesman also said Nigeria’s democracy has been in decline since 1999, describing past presidents as increasingly worse—with Obasanjo offering some promise, Yar’Adua bringing “fresh air,” and both Jonathan and Buhari falling short.

He concluded by warning that leadership driven by selfishness not service is at the root of Nigeria’s struggles.
