Arsenal Close to Agreeing New Long-Term Deal for Arteta

Arsenal are preparing to secure a new contract for manager Mikel Arteta, whose present deal is due to run out at the end of next season.

The agreement is not expected to be concluded until after the Spaniard returns from his holiday, although discussions so far have been positive, with confidence growing that a renewal is only a matter of time.

BBC Sport reports that the proposed deal would be a three-year extension accompanied by a significant salary increase.

Arteta currently earns around £10 million annually, with an additional £5 million tied to Champions League qualification.

If finalised, the new agreement would make him the highest-paid manager in English football following Pep Guardiola’s departure from Manchester City, whose contract reportedly exceeded £20 million per year, bringing Arteta closer to that earning bracket.
