Anambra first lady unveils health ambassadors in schools

The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Nonye Soludo, has officially launched the Healthy Living School Ambassadors and Community/School Gardens programme across selected secondary schools in the state. The initiative aims to promote early awareness and adoption of healthy lifestyle habits among schoolchildren, teenagers, youths, and local communities.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday at the headquarters of the Post Primary Schools Services Commission in Awka, the state capital. The newly appointed ambassadors include students, head teachers, teachers, and principals from various secondary schools across Anambra.

Speaking at the event, Soludo emphasized that the programme is focused on equipping students and their communities with the knowledge and routines needed to lead healthy, fulfilling lives. She described the ambassadors as a growing network of advocates committed to spreading the message of wellness and healthy living.

“This initiative is about creating a culture of health consciousness. A healthy lifestyle is the foundation for success, and the first step toward good health is awareness and responsibility,” she stated.

Soludo noted that the programme forms a key part of the government’s broader efforts to entrench its healthy living movement within schools and communities across the state. She encouraged students and school leaders to embrace their roles with dedication, saying the success of the programme depends on their active participation and collaboration.

She further explained that the activities have been carefully designed for impact and effectiveness, urging students to work closely with their school heads to drive the initiative forward.
