Ambode Declares Full Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-Election, Dismisses Defection Rumours

Ex-Lagos governor reaffirms loyalty to APC, says Tinubu deserves second term for ongoing reforms

Former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has openly reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring his full support for Tinubu’s anticipated 2027 re-election bid.

In a statement released on Saturday, Ambode dismissed ongoing speculation linking him to a governorship ambition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling the reports “false publications” aimed at causing confusion within the party.

“I wish to publicly reaffirm my absolute and unshakable loyalty to the APC, the party under which I had the privilege of serving Lagos State as governor in 2015, and to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, my leader, mentor, and a tireless champion for Nigeria’s progress,” said Ambode.

The former governor praised Tinubu’s leadership style and policy direction, highlighting key reforms in areas such as pension management, student loan schemes, youth empowerment, and national economic growth. He also credited the administration with resolving fuel scarcity, improving national security, and introducing policies that he said were positively impacting Nigerians.

“His focus, determination, and inclusive governance style are restoring hope and delivering tangible results. I am convinced that, given another four years, Nigerians will have even greater reason to celebrate,” Ambode stated.

He urged APC members and the general public to disregard distractions and remain committed to the party’s vision ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“Let it be clear: I stand solidly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress. We will work together to ensure victory in 2027 to continue delivering the dividends of democracy to all Nigerians,” he concluded.

Ambode’s declaration may signal renewed efforts within the APC to consolidate internal support as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
