Airplane Crashes in Ahmedabad Shortly After Takeoff
In a devastating incident on Thursday, June 12, 2025, an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, Flight AI171, crashed shortly after departing from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad.
The aircraft, en route to London Gatwick Airport, was carrying 244 people, including 232 passengers and 12 crew members.
The plane crashed into a residential area in the Meghani Nagar locality, resulting in a massive fireball and thick plumes of black smoke visible from various parts of the city.
Emergency services, including fire brigades and medical teams, were promptly dispatched to the crash site.
