Singer Rollex Dee has secured bail after spending about two months in police custody over allegations linked to the defamation and cyberbullying of Ibadan-based musician Taye Currency.
The Lagos State High Court granted the singer bail in the sum of N100 million on Friday, August 21, 2026, according to an update shared by MC Bokujaka, who has been campaigning online for his release.
The bail comes with conditions requiring two sureties, each to provide a N50 million bond.
Bokujaka said the court also stipulated that one of the sureties must be a member of Rollex Dee’s family, a condition he said could make the process of perfecting the bail difficult.
The singer’s bail followed the intervention of human rights activist Omoyele Sowore, who became involved amid public concerns over Rollex Dee’s prolonged detention.
Rollex Dee was initially arrested in April 2026 over allegations that he defamed and cyberbullied Taye Currency during an appearance on the Agbaletu programme.
He was subsequently released before being arrested again in the first week of July.
According to reports surrounding the case, the second arrest followed an alleged invitation to a reconciliation meeting by the Oyo State Police Command.
Rollex Dee had previously been associated with Taye Currency and was among those who supported the musician during his dispute with Fuji singer Pasuma.
Following a fallout between Rollex Dee and Taye Currency, the singer reportedly made allegations about his former associate, escalating the dispute and eventually leading to his arrest.
Although the court has granted him bail, Rollex Dee will have to satisfy the conditions attached to the order before he can regain his freedom.
The development has also renewed calls from supporters and activists for greater scrutiny of prolonged police detention and due process in cases involving alleged cyber-related offences.
