ADC reacts to defection of Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, says, ‘We’ve Moved On”

The leadership of the African Democratic Congress says the departure of key political figures, including Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, will not derail its long-term political objectives.

Speaking during an interview on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, described the exit of the duo as a temporary setback.

Obi and Kwankwaso recently defected from the ADC to the Nigerian Democratic Congress, citing internal political wranglings and court cases as reasons for their decision.

Reacting to the development, Abdullahi said,“Peter Obi and Kwankwaso moving from the ADC was a glitch. We have moved on from it. He added that the party has stabilised and remains committed to its broader mission.

“We have stabilised and moved forward because the objective remains the same, stopping the steady deterioration of governance in the country and strengthening multi-party democracy.

“While some have moved to other parties and others remain in ADC, the broader vision of building a strong opposition coalition is still very much alive within the current political dynamics”.

The ADC spokesman reaffirmed the party’s commitment to tackling governance challenges and sustaining multi-party democracy in the country.
