The price of gold surged to a new all-time high on Wednesday, following President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping new tariffs against most U.S. trading partners.
Gold surpassed its previous record around 11:00 PM WAT and continued its climb, reaching over $3,150 per ounce.
The sharp increase in gold prices came as traders flocked to the safe-haven asset, spooked by a significant drop in stock market futures in response to the tariff news.
