The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has reassured residents of Afaka, Mando, Kauya, and surrounding areas in Kaduna State not to panic as it prepares to hold the Inter Battalion Obstacles Crossing Competition for its cadets on Saturday, March 22.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Academy’s Public Relations Officer, Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the NDA informed the public of the event, which is a crucial part of cadet training. The competition, designed to test and enhance the cadets’ combat fitness, involves navigating simulated battlefield obstacles and maneuvering through various artificial stations set up on the course.
The event will also feature live firing exercises, including the use of heavy guns and light weapons. While these activities are a standard component of the training process, the NDA assured the public that there was no cause for alarm, despite the possible sounds of gunfire that may be heard during the event.
Maidawa urged residents to remain calm, offering gratitude for their continued support, and emphasized the importance of cooperation and safety during the competition. The Academy further encouraged the community to stay informed and assured everyone that these exercises are part of the NDA’s regular training regimen for its cadets.
Residents of the affected areas have been asked to be understanding and not to be alarmed by the sounds of gunfire or other training-related activities.
