President Tinubu Appoints Sunday Dare as Special Adviser on Public Communication

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Sunday Dare as Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, effective immediately. Dare will operate from the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.

The announcement came on Wednesday, coinciding with Tinubu’s decision to sack five ministers and reassign ten to new portfolios, alongside the appointment of seven new ministers pending Senate confirmation.

Dare previously served as Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports from 2019 to 2023 under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Before this ministerial role, he was appointed as an Executive Commissioner for Stakeholder Management at the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2016.

Dare also has a history of working closely with Tinubu, having served as his Chief of Staff and Special Adviser on Media during Tinubu’s tenure as Governor of Lagos State.

Additionally, President Tinubu appointed Shehu Dikko as Chairman of the National Sports Commission. This restructuring follows the dissolution of the Ministry of Sports Development, with its functions transferred to the National Sports Commission to foster a more vibrant sports economy.
