Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and the Nigeria Police Force have pledged stronger security collaboration to address potential flashpoints across Adamawa State.
The commitment follows an Electoral Risk Management Workshop in Yola, where INEC announced plans to conduct a targeted data analysis of vulnerable electoral zones between November 1st and 6th.
Representing INEC’s Department of Planning and Monitoring, Aminat Terry explained that the six-day exercise will assess emerging threats, including insurgency, kidnapping, communal clashes, and thuggery, capable of disrupting voting.
Terry added that the commission is simultaneously upgrading its technology infrastructure to resolve operational challenges encountered during previous election cycles.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Adamawa State, Mohammed Nura, and Police Commissioner, Kabir Hassan, represented by ACP Ibrahim Kambra, reaffirmed that early risk mapping and inter-agency coordination are essential to ensuring safe, credible polls.
