Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has paid tribute to his late son, Ifeanyi, on what would have been the child’s seventh birthday.

Ifeanyi, whom Davido shared with his wife, Chioma Adeleke, was born on October 20, 2019.

The singer marked the occasion with a social media post expressing his continued love for his son and the grief he and Chioma still feel over his loss.

“Happy birthday son …. Me and mommy miss and love you! Keep flying high,” Davido wrote.

Ifeanyi died at three

Ifeanyi died on October 31, 2022, at the age of three after drowning in a swimming pool.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the cause of death following an autopsy conducted on the child.

The then police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, told journalists at the time that the examination had confirmed the drowning.

“Autopsy has been concluded. It confirms the boy (Ifeanyi) drowned,” Hundeyin said.

The child’s death prompted an outpouring of condolences from fans, entertainers and public figures, many of whom expressed support for Davido and Chioma following their loss.

Davido’s latest tribute marks another public remembrance of his son, whose birthday continues to hold significance for the singer and his family.
