Operation Fansan Yamma: Troops Kill Two Suspected Lakurawa Terrorists, Recover Four AK-47 Rifles

A clearance operation by troops of Operation Fansan Yamma in Sokoto State has left two suspected Lakurawa terrorists dead, with four AK-47 rifles, eight motorcycles and other equipment recovered.

The operation was conducted on October 15, 2026, as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restore security across the joint operations area.

The operation’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said in a statement that troops of Sector 2 engaged the suspected terrorists in a firefight at Waria Forest, neutralising one suspect and recovering two AK-47 rifles and two motorcycles.

He said the troops later confronted another group at Sarma village, where they neutralised another suspect and forced the others to flee, abandoning their equipment.

Danja said subsequent searches led to the recovery of six additional motorcycles, two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 23 rounds of ammunition, a communication device and other items.

He added that the Theatre Command commended the public for its continued cooperation and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest security outpost.
