A Nigerian woman has accused the management of singer Reekado Banks of failing to honour an alleged promise to compensate her after she joined the artiste on stage during a performance.
In a video circulating online, the woman recounted how she ended up dancing with the singer during the show and was preparing to leave when a member of his management team approached her.
According to her account, the team member told her she would be compensated for participating in the performance.
She said the offer came as a surprise because she had not requested payment or expected to receive anything for joining Reekado Banks on stage.
The woman said the manager collected her contact details and she later sent a message introducing herself as requested.
However, she claimed that the conversation did not progress after her initial message and that she received no further communication about the alleged payment.
She said the situation became more confusing when another person, who identified himself as a member of Reekado Banks’ team, contacted her several days later to ask whether she had received the promised compensation.
The woman said she subsequently contacted the first manager to verify the person’s identity.
According to her, the manager asked her to provide a screenshot of the conversation, which she sent.
She alleged that the manager then stopped responding to her messages.
The woman said she followed up again several days later but claimed she still received no response.
She stressed that her complaint was not primarily about the money, noting that she would not have expected compensation if the offer had never been made.
“It’s not even about the money. If they had not offered compensation, I wouldn’t have expected anything. But once a promise is made, it should be honoured and properly communicated,” she said.
The allegation has generated discussion online, with attention focused on the handling of the promised compensation and the communication between the woman and the artiste’s team.
Reekado Banks and his management had not publicly responded to the allegation as of the time of filing this report.
