Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has welcomed his side’s 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United, despite admitting the encounter was a tough contest.
Rivers United took the lead through Harrison Ebah’s own goal in the 68th minute, but Musa Yakubu restored parity for Nasarawa United six minutes before full time.
Finidi said his players performed well but expressed reservations about the penalty decision that led to the equaliser.
“Every game is difficult even when playing at home in this season, we have to find our way it to get the much needed point,” Finidi told Rivers United’s media.
“I think my boys did well. Towards the end of the game they defended a little deep which resulted in an incident which we conceded from.
“My only concern was the penalty was questionable but the referee said he saw it, we have to move on and think about the next match.
“We are happy with the point recorded in the game.”
Rivers United have now collected seven points from their opening three matches of the season.
