Suspected gunmen have attacked an Army outpost along the Igbeti–Igboho road in Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State, setting fire to a building and a patrol vehicle within the facility.
The attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday, between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m., when the assailants reportedly stormed the Operation Burst base in large numbers and opened fire.
A security update says security operatives were immediately mobilised after receiving a distress call, but the attackers had fled the area before they arrived.
The gunmen are said to have set ablaze a building within the base, as well as a patrol vehicle, before escaping.
No casualties have been reported in connection with the attack.
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the incident, while investigations are ongoing to identify the attackers and determine the circumstances surrounding the assault.
