U.S. President Donald Trump has promised a 5,000-dollar payment to every adult American if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress in the November midterm elections.
Trump made the pledge at the Republican Party’s midterm convention in Dallas, presenting what he described as a dividend tied to the party’s electoral success.
The president said the payment would have to be spent within the United States, but provided no detailed explanation of how the scheme would be funded or implemented. Analysts estimate that paying every adult could cost more than one trillion dollars, raising questions about its financial and legislative feasibility.
Trump also sought to make the November 3 elections a referendum on his presidency, urging Republican supporters to treat the contest as though he were personally on the ballot.
The pledge comes as Republicans face a difficult midterm contest, with Democrats seeking to make gains in both the House of Representatives and Senate. Trump’s approval ratings have remained under pressure amid voter concerns over the cost of living and his administration’s handling of the war with Iran.

Trump also used the convention to defend the ongoing war with Iran, arguing that victory would help ease pressure on oil prices and strengthen America’s energy position.
