Zamfara: Police Remove Locally Fabricated Led From Kaura Namoda-Moriki Road

A suspected landmine planted by bandits along the Kaura Namoda–Moriki Road in Zamfara State has detonated, prompting a swift response from the police and bomb disposal experts.

The Zamfara State Police Command said no death or injury was recorded in the incident.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the command had received intelligence about suspected improvised explosive devices planted along the road before one of them exploded after a vehicle reportedly drove over it.

A combined team of the Violence Crime Response Unit and Explosive Ordnance Disposal personnel was immediately deployed to the area.

The EOD team confirmed the device as a locally fabricated landmine and searched the surrounding area to ensure there were no additional explosives.

The location was subsequently declared safe, while damaged portions of the road were repaired to restore normal vehicular movement.

The Commissioner of Police, CP A.M. Bello, urged motorists and residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or activities to security agencies.

He also warned the public against approaching or tampering with suspected explosive devices, urging them to alert security personnel immediately.
